Ancestors: John Belushi, by Davin Michael Stedman

Did you know Belushi was an All State linebacker in Illinois? That partly explains why he was a ‘fat man’ doing back flips on stage at 30 like he was on the Chitlin Circuit.

Legend has it that live he was one of the most electrifying frontmen of all time.

Like Prince himself later accomplished to great fanfare, Belushi had the #1 album (Blues Brothers) and movie (Animal House) at the same time in 1979. But he was also still on top at SNL. That’s the hat trick. Total domination.

Radio, Television, Movies; more comedic talent in one man than any particular medium could contain. His own frame could hardly contain him. This man was our Charlie Chaplin. And then he was gone.

We will never know if John Belushi even peaked. I think he made it to base camp.

FACT: Bill Murray took his spot in Ghostbusters after he died. I love Bill Murray but John would have lit that movie like Times Square.

John Belushi was so great he even made Jim Belushi a star. Jim is a sweet guy and one hard working Albanian man but that is a double back flip. Even Hendrix couldn’t quite do that.

John Belushi was a fireball.
