Donald Trump Comes to Town, by Chuck Strom

I may live in a blue state, but the politics of my immediate neighborhood tinge red. Obama doesn’t come here to raise money, but a lot of right-of-center political celebrities stop by, including Sarah Palin when she did her Going Rogue book tour in 2010. It made sense, then, that Donald Trump and his plane dropped in yesterday and did an event at the airport. I had thoughts about driving across town to attend, but my work deadlines didn’t allow it. Not that I really missed anything, since the whole event was on YouTube before I left the office, and I saved myself hours of standing on tarmac in triple-digit heat.

No need to go into the particulars of Trump’s speech, since it was pretty much like all of the others he’s given for the past year. I do have to allow some admiration for his stamina. He gave a full half-hour speech at a non-stop rapid-fire shout, repeating almost everything two or three times just to make sure you heard. He had to have been sweating a lot, given the heat and the energy he was expending, but he didn’t even take off his suit coat. Then, after a few handshakes and pictures, he was off again as quickly as he’d come.
