Starr Blazerz – Found That Soul, The Ring

I can’t get enough of these new tunes from Starr Blazerz. At last, dance tunes loaded with humanity and drama (the good kind)… The one above is brand new, the one below is a few months old. Listen if you want to catch up.

Starr Blazerz began in 2013 as a songwriting collaboration between Virginia producer Justin Marlowe and Dallas songwriting veteran Glen Reynolds. By late 2014, both artists were intrigued by the potential of a full release of their work together. At that point Starr Blazerz was born. Inspired by the early 80’s anime TV series, the band’s name credits their blend of hip hop (“Starr” a salute to rap pioneers Gang Starr), R&B, House, and Synth Pop with the trippy nature of said mixture (“Blazerz”).

“Found That Soul” is lyrically about the club scene, and how intoxicating a great song and inspiring dance floor can be. Better than sex, drugs, AND rock n’ roll, a great song and locale can inspire dancers to levels of ecstasy unknown by the average person. The title is homage to the fantastic Manic Street Preacher’s song of the same name, and within you can hear Reynolds’s penchant for vocal arrangements in the tantalizing layered vocals. The production is based around a mid-tempo house beat with an intoxicating synth line that is reminiscent of works by acts like The Eurythmics and The Pet Shop Boys. The vocal stylistics intertwined with the record’s sonic colour palate guarantee dance floor enjoyment.
