Santa Monica, CA, July 11, 2025 – Today, indie-folk artist/songwriter/producer Hunter Metts returns with a transcendent new single called “Blue Ridge Run.” A deeply felt love letter to the Appalachian landscape, the sublimely uplifting track spotlights the captivating vocal work and poetic storytelling previously shown on his viral hit “Weathervane.” “Blue Ridge Run” is available now via Position Music/Interscope Records. Penned by Metts and esteemed songwriter Henry Brill (Phantogram, Maggie Rose, Joy Oladokun), “Blue Ridge Run” offers up a full-hearted reflection on the singular peace of mind the Nashville-born artist finds in the lovely majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
“The Blue Ridge Mountains are a place I go to whenever I feel uninspired, or whenever life feels really heavy,” says Metts. “I wanted to create a song specifically about how free I feel whenever I’m there. From the instrumentation to the lyrics, I hope people can feel that same freedom through this song.”
Equal parts wide-eyed love song and lived-in meditation on the ineffable power of the natural world, “Blue Ridge Run” expands on the graceful musicality that first enraptured listeners around the world on “Weathervane” — a 2024 release that landed on nearly every viral chart across the globe, amassing over 47.3 million streams to date. After opening on a tender plea to connect and escape from the chaos of modern life, “Blue Ridge Run” takes on an exhilarating energy as Metts conjures the soul-soothing wonder of the Appalachian terrain (from the chorus: “Give me golden skin, Carolina sun/American spirit in my lungs/Say my name and I’ll climb right up/Show me, baby, where the Blue Ridge runs”). Co-produced by Metts and Andrew Berlin (and featuring Metts on mandolin and acoustic guitar), “Blue Ridge Run” gently weaves in lilting piano lines, lush viola melodies, heart-pounding drums, and potent upright bass — almost immediately transporting the listener to a blissed-out state of pure serenity.
The latest in a series of spellbinding singles including “Abilene” (a heartrending ballad inspired by the small Texas city where his grandfather was adopted), “Blue Ridge Run” arrives as Metts gets set to embark on his debut U.S. headline run this October. A mesmerizing live performer who recently toured North America as support for multi-platinum singer/songwriter James Bay, Metts will kick off the 10-date a crater wide tour on October 28 in Minneapolis and take the stage at legendary venues like New York City’s Mercury Lounge. With stops in major cities like Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, the tour will follow a string of headline European/U.K. dates in September and October. All tickets for a crater wide tour are on sale now, visit HunterMetts.org for more info.
