FACTOR EIGHT REDEFINES AMBIENT-ELECTRONICA WITH SIGNATURE VOICE-ONLY VIRTUOSITY ON “WAITING FOR THE END”

Multi-discipline award-winning artist Factor Eight announces his latest single “Waiting For The End,” set for release June 13th. Alongside the track, he releases the accompanying music video directed by Alexander Willems.

Much like his previous works, this deeply personal ambient composition emerges from his signature style of creating entirely with his voice. Born during one of the most challenging periods of his life as he navigated the mutual end of a long-term relationship, he transforms raw emotion into layered musical textures through innovative vocal production techniques. Every element—from driving bass lines to ethereal harmonies—comes from Factor Eight’s voice alone, manipulated and arranged to represent different stages of grief and acceptance.

“‘Waiting for the End’ is a literal representation of this moment in my life, realizing an important chapter was coming to a close,” explains Factor Eight. “The title pays homage to one of my favorite songs of all time by Linkin Park, which embodies similar themes of loss, letting go, and moving forward. This felt like the perfect piece to be titled as a nod to a song that has meant so much to me throughout my life, helping me through other similarly challenging periods.”

Musically, the piece opens with lush vocal swells representing internal struggle and angst, building through a driving vocal-based arpeggio that embodies transition’s turmoil. Sweeping voices weave throughout, conveying sadness and longing, while a deep bass line propels the journey through grief’s stages. The closing mirrors the opening’s sonic structure but shifts emotionally toward hope and acceptance.

The accompanying music video presents its own unique challenge: telling a story without dialogue or lyrics. Contrasting atmospheric studio sequences against candid moments shot throughout the director’s and artist’s quiet hometown Saskatoon, the film mirrors the tension between inner emotional landscapes and external reality. Bathed in dramatic lighting and ethereal haze, the studio scenes create a submerged, dreamlike quality that echoes the song’s fluid textures, whilst Factor Eight’s background in dance shines through, as abstract contemporary movement becomes a language for what words cannot express.

“We wanted frames to carry weight, inviting the viewer to feel rather than be told,” explains director Alexander Willems “Ultimately, this video is about the quiet yet chaotic moments where transformation begins.”

Since 2018, Factor Eight has crafted music exclusively with his voice as a sonic parallel to sharing his mental health journey—the most personal and authentic expression of his artistic voice, literally giving voice to his experiences. “Creating in this way is a very personal experience—recording whatever feels most authentic to me in the moment, then manipulating this into every possible component of the musical arrangement,” Factor Eight notes. “This piece is intended to be a means for others struggling to relate in their own way, hopefully finding their own catharsis.”

His recent achievements include sync placements on Disney+, trailer music for “Gladiator II”, A24’s “Warfare” and the Oscar-winning film “Women Talking,” as well as his acclaimed album “II.” Through his innovative compositional approach and unwavering focus on mental health advocacy, Factor Eight connects with audiences globally, “seeking to inspire connection in those who struggle, and compassion in those who struggle to relate”.
