Kansas folk-punk, Gothic country band CARRIE NATION & THE SPEAKEASY (CNS) has built a solid, grassroots following across 49 states and nine countries with their creatively vigorous live show featuring a signature blend of strings and horns.
LOGOS is the quintet’s genre-bending new release of hyper-focused songs with ingenious craft and thoughtful ferocity.
The release is a follow-up to GNOSIS (2018), but LOGOS is an elevation for the band in terms of universal cause and effect, syllogisms, and rational illumination.
You can file it under: “Thrashgrass” and “experimental acoustic/ folk-punk for people who hate folk-punk.”
The first video from the album is a combination of moody, throat-clutching opening tracks ‘“Soot Follows Cinder” and “Antonious Block’s Confession.” The video is as gorgeously designed and apocalyptically illustrated as the cover artwork.
The band’s DIY approach is evident in their self-recorded albums, self-published music, self-booked tours, and collaborations with local and regional visual artists. A live CNS performance is a loud, fast, sweeping journey to a brand-new destination. Their music, as brilliantly evidenced on LOGOS is a whip-smart ride through the history and future of American music (and beyond).
