PILE DRIVE NEW SONG + VIDEO “BOUNCING IN BLUE”

Boston DIY stalwarts Pile are gearing up to release their ninth album, Sunshine and Balance Beams, on August 15th via Sooper Records. Today, they share the final single, “Bouncing in Blue,” a track about releasing control, letting go of certainty, and finding freedom from expectation. The accompanying video, the second of three videos directed by filmmaker Stefan Fernandez, shows vocalist Rick Maguire literally surrendering to the moment as he’s carried away by the tides.

“Bouncing in Blue” follows previous singles “Uneasy,” a song that channels the horror of civilian death and displacement, and the lead track “Born at Night,” which explores the idea that enlightenment might be a myth, leaving only the ongoing cycle of suffering. The video for “Born at Night,” featured Deli Boys actor Shahjehan Khan.

Over the past 15 years and eight albums, Pile have established themselves as this generation’s Fugazi, building a discography and tour history deeply rooted in DIY ethos. That spirit remains, but on Sunshine and Balance Beams out August 15th via Sooper Records, the band pushes into new sonic territory, enlisting engineer Miranda Serra (Kal Marks, Kira McSpice), mixer Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz, The Hotelier, Big Brave) and mastering engineer Matt Colton (James Blake, Depeche Mode, Band Bear).
