‘One More Time’ – a survival show-inspired track by Gunnva

The Danish-Faroese singer-songwriter Gunnva returns with her fourth single, ‘One More Time’, set for release on June 27. With an organic, live-recorded sound blending folk-rock, americana, and playful synth-pop elements, the track explores themes of loneliness and the human longing for connection.

“I’ve often felt I could manage just fine on my own, but this song is about realizing that’s not the whole truth. It reminds me of contestants in survival shows like ‘Alone’, who eventually discover they long for something more than just making it through. For me, the image became a kind of forest walk, where the darkness sets in, and you realize you need someone to help you find the path,” Gunnva explains.

Drawing inspiration from acts like Fleetwood Mac and The War On Drugs, ‘One More Time’ weaves together groovy basslines, atmospheric guitars, lap steel, and lush 70s-style synths. The song, written in under an hour, concludes with a choir arrangement symbolizing the journey from isolation to shared experience—a track that invites both introspection and the desire to jump in the car or lace up your running shoes.

The single follows the success of ‘In My Heart’, which has been in rotation on Danish P5 radio since April, highlighted as the ‘track of the week’ on Uniradioen, and covered by outlets such as Fame MagazineShe Makes MusicBands of TomorrowPipilopopIn Music Blog, and East Portland Blog.

With ‘One More Time’, Gunnva continues her path towards her highly anticipated debut album, expected later this year. This summer, she will also perform at Denmark’s acclaimed emerging artist festival Uhørt and the Faroe Islands’ Summarfestival.

28-year-old Gunnva Jóhannisardóttir Kjærgaard is a Danish-Faroese singer-songwriter based in Aalborg. Previously featured on a string of million-streaming hits by DJ duo BOILERS, she is now carving out her own sound, combining pop, folk, and organic elements.
