Los Angeles, CA (May 7, 2025) – Esteemed Puerto Rican artist, producer, and musician RaiNao released the original version of her new single “sofocón” today via RIMAS. The track recently debuted on COLORSxSTUDIOS, where the songstress showcased the record through an emotional performance while paying homage to Puerto Rico’s Afro-Caribbean culture through the song’s rhythms and her wardrobe which was inspired by the Vejigantes of Loíza, iconic characters of her culture. “sofocón” arrives with a powerful video, where the main theme focuses on the distortion of the Caribbean. Directed by Val Vega and filmed in her native island of Puerto Rico, the music video incorporates emotions and sensory elements such as touch, seawater, the sunset, body language, lust and the color green to tell a surreal story filled with powerful images and hidden messages. It’s an exploration of important themes for the artist, such as the abstraction or transformation of trash and the illegal appropriation of Puerto Rico’s coasts and beaches.
