The Psychedelic Furs – Pretty in Pink (Berlin 12″ Mix): What is the origin story for this excellent remix?

Most remixes are awful. Not this one. This one finds and enhances melodic parts in the original while prolonging the occasional understated dance kick.

When Youtube says this is the “Berlin 12 Inch Remix” are they referring to the city or the nightclub under the EL stop on Belmont in Chicago, also called “Berlin”?

If it’s the nightclub, what a boon for them and their long history, as this is a great remix, better than something limited to a single bar and good enough to be associated with the vast expanse of any city anywhere.

The city of Berlin was divided when the song was first released making any good thing relating to it probably a West Berlin idea at the time. This mix is too good for fading, Communist, East Berlin. Check out the “Lipsi” if you want in-depth information on pop-culture dances in East Germany. (https://en.berlinoschule.com/lipsi-when-ddr-created-a-new-dance-to-stop-rocknroll/)

I wish I knew where this mix came from, but I hope it’s the nightclub in Chicago just for the fabulousness inherent in that.

If anyone talks to Richard Butler any time soon, please ask him about the origin of this mix and email the answer to EPB.
