The Tristones – First World Problems

The Tristones, led by the energetic and charismatic blues rocker Tristan Clark from New York, NY, today releases, “First World Problems,” the second single from his upcoming album Camaro, out in April. Available on all streaming services, “First World Problems” can be found here. The track was written by Clark and his good friend Jordan Venn, a frequent collaborator. “We had the idea of writing a first person narrative on how easy it is to get annoyed about social media and other trivial day-to-day events, but all with a sense of humour,” says Clark. The playful, upbeat tune addresses the anxieties and restlessness caused by living in a digital world, presented in a rocking, tongue-in-cheek tone. “I’ve got first order problems / of the first world,” explains Clark in the song.

Working once again with friend and colleague Jared Lucow, The Tristones created a truly boisterous video for “First World Problems.” The second half of the video references the famous scene in the film Office Space. Describes Clark, “I had the idea of all of us smashing everyday electronics. We found some used equipment and devices that no one wanted and went to town! We all felt like we were 13-years-old again.” The video was shot at drummer Adam Jackson’s house in New Jersey, and Lucow was able to capture it all with just one camera and some slick editing.

The second single from The Tristones’ upcoming full-length Camaro, “First World Problems” was recorded in Maine, Toronto and Clark’s hometown of Nanaimo, British Columbia. The track features Clark on guitar/vocals, Greg Jones on bass, background vocals and percussion, Jackson on drums, background vocals and percussion, Dylan Hemming on Hammond B3 and piano, and Camille Miller’s vocals in the bridge. Additional backgrounds were sung by Tina Jones, in addition to Miller. “First World Problems” was engineered by Jon Roods (The Rustic Overtones), Stu Mahan (The London Souls, Eric Krasno Band) and Rick Salt. The track was mixed by Salt and mastered at Tranquality Sound.
