You can call it White-splainin’ or Man-splainin’ or man-spreading or cheese breadin,’ but Bob Costas just freestyled from his dome some of the greatest commentary on the intersectionality of Sports, Racism, and Patriotism OF ALL TIME.
PLEASE WATCH, especially my dear friends from other nations. This is a fellow Civilian I salute:
Donald Trump is too ignorant and self absorbed to realize he got SERVED. But he got SERVED.
Bob drops so many dimes, including the hypocrisy that pro sports teams only recognize soldiers as patriots at ceremonies paid for by our tax dollars, instead of maybe occasionally recognizing school teachers or social workers or 100 other kinds of patriots.
As if our Military is the only viable pathway to Patriotism. Which is a very dangerous and downright unpatriotic notion that shows how far we’ve slid towards stupid.
Watch Costas handle Colin Kaepernick with so much genuine respect while criticizing his sophomoric grasp of complex issues that are coming from a good place. Colin is an imperfect messenger. But he wasn’t the hero we wanted. He was the hero we needed. Thank God somebody threw a touch down against White Supremacy. No I take that back. Colin ran that touch down in. Then he put the ball in our hands. Colin’s relative silence is a deafening tactic that prevents the right from spinning his words.
My favorite future assistant manager at Foot Locker launched a silent & truly non violent protest that is gaining momentum because Trump can’t handle an unemployed QB, let alone a leader of a backwards rogue nation that appears dark from space. Martin Luther King would have been so proud. I can hear his voice so loud. May Trump roll right down from the top of his sh_t mountain, into the arms of his Russian mob associates.
As for Bob Costas, I’ll never forget nodding off when Costas started the Sochi Olympics Broadcast. Costas boldly proclaimed that he was going to use NBC coverage as a platform to bring attention to Putin’s military incursions into Crimea. I muttered to myself.
“Putin is going to poison his ass. Poison…it’s a woman’s weapon.”
Maybe even the very next day Bob’s eyes were on fire. Putin used the entire Olympic Games as a diversion to invade Ukraine. Bobby tried to stay on the air, but he was poisoned. No more Putin coverage. But just imagine Costas talking about Putin poisoning rivals as his eyes are literally bleeding.
The point of that aside is that Costas is still going after Dictators. I just didn’t see him coming for his own back in those innocent days of 2014.
2014 was back when kids respected their parents and a pickle only cost a nickel. We had a President the World respected, with the exception of Terrorists he was lighting up, Rogue dictators, and the new Ku Klux Klan that was mighty uncomfortable with his uppity ass ability to lead us with out loosing his cool.
Tonight, I am just thankful all kinds of people are doing some splainin’ about White Supremacy. Black, White, Left and Shepard Smith our favorite gay Fox News anchor talking sense to the Right!
And my heart goes out to Charlottesville. In the vapid parlance of Donald Trump, Trump really damaged your brand. A fine little Southern city is now spoken of like a Civil War battleground. Charlottesville, I would sue.
