Communist Daughter – Balboa Bridge, Balto – Born Astray

The recent video above from Communist Daughter features a great new song reminiscent of the best of The National. Titled, “Balboa Bridge,” the song is about the namesake bridge in Balboa Park in San Diego, a lovely, bittersweet spot where I used to jog for exercise in my younger days. Definitely worth a listen.

Communist Daughter will apppear with hunky Portland band Balto at Bunk Bar on January 21. Balto’s recent video for “Born Astray” is below. The band will release, Strangers, a full-length work, their first in five years, this coming February. The describe the work as, “a long, open-windowed trek through post-Sixties America.”

On stage, Balto brings together Americana, hard rock, psychedelic, and gospel influences seamlessly. This is music for adventurers.
