Georgie Fame – Rhythm and Blues at the Flamingo, by Pat Thomas

georgiefameI’ve been trying to get my hands on this album for decades, today is the day I’ve got it in my hands! Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames live at The Flamingo Club in September 1963 recorded by Glyn Johns. The music has been described as involving “distinctly sensuous body movements and even the most cooly suburban members of the audience could not fail to be moved to an almost jungle like frenzy.”

Pat Thomas is the author of Listen, Whitey! The Sights and Sounds of Black Power 1965-1975.
