The Black Atlas – Moonsong, by Paul Johnson

As the dim light of dawn illuminates the eastern horizon and intensifies into awakening light, so too The Black Atlas’s single “Moonsong’s” tapestry reveals and unfolds itself, calling forth and drawing out an unseen virulent potential, until at last, unable to be restrained, “Moonsong” bursts forth in an explosion, a powerful, satisfying manifestation that expands and contracts, bows and then punches through it’s self imposed containment.

There is artistry here, orchestration, masterful musical craftsmanship. As a single “Moonsong” is a chalice into which The Black Atlas pours us a serving of auditory absinthe. From this unique, yet thematically consistent artist, one is compelled to have another serving to experience what may lay within the bowl, upon the plate, or whatever finery completes the set deemed Devils, the band’s upcoming album which will be released June 16.
