I actually managed to catch most of it last night, though I wasn’t even aware it was on until partway through. The one comment I would add is that Paul Simon’s appearance at the end was a little dispiriting. His voice sounded every bit its 73 years, and hearing it was like seeing Willie Mays drop the fly ball in the 1973 World Series, long past the point when he should have hung up his spikes. That’s life, of course, but such things make me all the more appreciative when an artist manages to keep his talent long after its reasonable sell-by date, such as James Taylor (then age 65) singing the anthem at the 2013 Series:
