Jazz pop songstress Amana Melomé is premiering an intimate, in-studio video for her single “Icarus” off of her recently released Lock and Key, an EP produced by The Decoders‘ Adam Berg and Itai Shapira.
Amana has previously headlined events for Fendi and Dior and held a lead role on the Italian sitcom Un medico in famiglia. With a strong international presence already, Amana is working to break into the US market. Amana will tour the US starting in March, followed by gigs across Europe.
This new song, Amana says, is, “a cautionary tale I’ve always related to while pursuing ‘the dream’ in Hollywood. This song is about Icarus, written in first person. In this case the sun represents fame, the perils, temptation and ‘blindness’ it can cause.”
“We recorded vocals and bass simultaneously in the studio,” she says, “with no click/metronome…just each other to feed off of (in a few runs), which was a wonderful experience! Todd added the trumpet magic later, bringing it to another level.”
