Cuban-Born Percussionist Candido Camero to Celebrate 91st Birthday at Seattle’s Jazz Alley, 10/18 – 10/21

Cuban-born percussionist Candido Camero, the man credited with bringing the conga to Jazz in the 1950s and who later enjoyed some success in the disco era, will be performing with friends at Seattle’s Jazz Alley (2033 6th Ave, Seattle) Oct. 18th to 21st, as part of a series of concerts celebrating his life and work. The shows will be titled, “Candido’s 91st Birthday Celebration” and the musicians– all of them celebrated masters of Latin Jazz– will include Candido (congas), Larry Harlow (piano), Steve Berrios (drums), Yunior Terry (bass), Pete Escovedo (timbales), Jorge Castro (tenor sax) and Frankie “Mr. Estillo” Figueroa (vocals). There will be two sets Thursday to Saturday at 7:30pm & 9:30pm and and one at 7:30pm on Sunday. All sets will contain a minimum of 70 minutes of musical greatness.
