He was known as “Gentlemen Jim,” and his sound was “countrypolitan.” He died piloting his own plane in a thunderstorm near Nashville on July 31, 1964. He was at the height of his career at the time he died and these tunes are only two out of his string of hits which also included “Welcome to My World,” “He’ll Have to Go” and many more.
