The Day Jonathan Frid Invaded My Humanities Class, By Joe Mabel

One of the teachers in our high school, a Mr. Blake, was a former actor and knew Jonathan Frid (of TVs’s Dark Shadows) from those days. One day, Frid came to visit Mr. Blake at the school and to talk to his classes. My Humanities class with Mrs. Bertaccini met in one of the rooms of the school library on a period that happened to be Mr. Blake’s free period. Several of the girls were unsuccessfully begging Mrs. B. to let them track down Mr. Blake and try to get Jonathan Frid to come to our class as well; she, as a reasonable adult, figured he’d really rather not be bothered. None of us knew that Blake & Frid were next door in the library office hearing all of this.

Suddenly, Jonathan Frid burst through the office door, bit the nearest girl (one Sandra Waldman) on the neck, and practically sprinted out into the hallway. I doubt if anyone who was in that room and is still alive — or, I suppose, undead — has ever forgotten.
