Montana QB Dynasty! by Tom Kipp and Jay Schuschke

Oedipus Montannicus - Nate, Joe and Mom(?) Montana

I will try to get more information on this to you later – or you can look on the web – Nate Montana, son of NFL’s Joe Montana, has transferred from Notre Dame to the University of Montana to play quarterback.  He started classes there today according to one report I read.

More later – but think of the fun of a quarterback named Montana playing for Montana.

Very nice.

And of course the younger Montana QB son [Nick] redshirted this year at UW and is expected to contend for the starting position this spring, post-Jake Locker!

So Papa Joe’s gonna hafta spend a lotta time in the NW!

Thanks Jay,

I didn’t know that about Nick – I have to get caught up with the news – I didn’t know Montana was looking at Montana…see there – that will be the fun thing. Kinda like "Who’s on First?".

We will have to create something. I know – "Montana is coming to Montana to see Montana."  Something like that.

A splendid idea for homegrown humor!

We’ll have to explore that further, particularly if a Montana is starting at QB at BOTH the premier football programs in the NW [UW in Division I, UM in I-AA].

And it never hurts to have a global sporting deity–which their dad remains–frequently in our midst.

In this era most of all, Celebrity Glamour really does confer a certain type of "gravitas" on a program/school/city/region, however unfairly, and all the more so when you’ve either never  commanded that type of cachet on the national scene [UM], or when it’s been in eclipse for sufficient years, as it has post-Rick Neuheisel [if not post-Don James!] at UW.

Let’s see whether EPB’s interested in said item for EastPortlandBlog….

P.S. A further permutation: "Montana is coming to Montana to see how well Montanans are taking to  his  Montana!" LOL
